2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dale County finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Dale County finished sixth in Class 3A region two with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Dale County took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2011. The defense allowed a team record 463 points last season. The Warriors hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just one game which followed a 14-1 record in 2014. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Dale County averaged scoring just 13.4 points a game. The Warriors also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 46.3 points a game. Since 2010, Dale County has gone a combined 34-34. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Dale County has managed to compile a record of 132-138. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 31st in Class 4A and 196th in the AHSAA. The Warriors are led by head coach Pate Harrison who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 32-16 over the past four seasons at Dale County. Under his direction the Warriors have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Harrison. Coach Harrison's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 32-16 (66.7%). The Dale County Warriors will play in Class 4A region two during the 2016 season. The Warriors move up in classification to Class 4A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. With a little luck and some improvement, the Warriors could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Dale County came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Warriors open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Headland on Friday, August 19 at J.J. Yarborough Stadium. Last year the Headland Rams finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region two. The Rams ended last season on a positive note with a win over Abbeville by a score of 22-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Dale County and Headland have met a total of 77 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 34-42-1 record against the Rams. They last met in 2015 with Headland winning by a score of 53-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
